Goats, especially goat kids, are very affectionate animals. All of our goats have been hand reared and have no fear of humans. When you enter a paddock of kids they will come running up to you and demand that you stroke and cuddle them! In fact, they will climb over each other to get to you.

There are many myths about the behaviour of goats. You will have heard that they "eat anything" and that they will "eat the washing off the line", or perhaps that they will butt you for no reason. All of these pieces of folklore have been perpetuated by people who obviously have had little contact with these beautiful creatures.

Yes, they are inquisitive and will taste your clothing, but they are highly selective in what they eat and are easily poisoned by common garden plants like azaleas and rhododendron. The normal "goat greeting" is nose to nose, whether it's goat to goat or goat to human. Because we know what fastidiously clean creatures they are, we have no problem with this.
